Enhanced Aluminum Mirrors
Enhanced aluminum mirrors are mirrors that improve reflectivity, durability, and laser damage threshold by optimizing the coating process or adding dielectric protection or enhancement layers on top of conventional aluminum (Al) reflective coatings. They are widely used in optical systems in the ultraviolet (UV), visible (VIS) and near-infrared (NIR) wavelengths.

What are the types of enhanced aluminum mirrors that can be classified by optimized bands?
(1) Ultraviolet (UV) enhanced aluminum mirrors
Coating combination: Al + MgF₂ (optimized for 200-400 nm).
Reflectivity: R>85%@UV (common aluminum coating only 80%).
Applications: UV lasers, photolithography, fluorescence detection.

(2) Visible (VIS) enhanced aluminum mirrors
Coating combination: Al + SiO₂ or multilayer dielectric coating (optimized for 400-700 nm).
Reflectivity: R>93-95%@VIS.
Applications: camera lenses, projectors, telescopes.

(3) Near infrared (NIR) enhanced aluminum mirrors
Coating combination: Al + multilayer dielectric coating (optimized for 700-2000 nm).
Reflectivity: R>95%@NIR.
